About Arlington Community Schools
Arlington Community Schools serves more than 4,770 students in four schools, led by Superintendent Jeff Mayo. Through their 5-Year Strategic Plan, they are working towards four goals: improve student achievement, maximize employee capacity, improve organization efficiency and effectiveness, and engage community support. In the words of Superintendent Jeff Mayo, “The Arlington Community Schools’ Strategic Plan comes from months of a planning process, which included input from the ACS Board of Education, administrators, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders in the Arlington Community. These partners helped build a blueprint to guide the district’s work in meeting the goals developed by the Board of Education. I am confident that this five-year plan will continue to build upon the excellence in ACS.”
Voted a Top Workplace in the Memphis-Metro by its employees, ACS has more than 475 teachers and staff who are dedicated to the education, safety and health of students in Arlington and surrounding communities. In 2015, ACS launched its 1:1 iPad initiative to bring interactive technology into the classroom, giving all students in Grades K-12 a device. Students are also introduced to STEM Education, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, beginning in Kindergarten to equip them with the tools to become lifelong learners. Arlington High School is also home to the AHSTEMHub, a million-dollar facility that gives students the opportunity to study Machining, BioSTEM, Cybersecurity, Welding, Mechatronics, Coding and more. ACS is proudly a certified Kindness District and a multi-year recipient for the Best Communities for Music Education award.
